The EbA project recognizes the linkages between climate change and gender equality. Girls and women have been critical players in adapting to climate change despite being the hardest hit of its adverse consequences. As the current trend of climate change leads to increased poverty and hampers sustainable development, it is evident that dealing with and responding to climate change is critical to achieving gender equality.
Today, girls and women continue to be front liners, innovators, and change-makers to build resilience against the adverse effects of climate change. In a bid to protect families and communities, they are the ones who most often decide on the daily consumption of resources, play a key role in agricultural production and land conservation, water usage, cooking fuel, and other household resources.
